2002-2018 Ram Quad Crew Cab NVX Subwoofer Enclosures

The Ultimate 2002-2018 RAM Quad & Crew Cab Subwoofer Enclosure Buyer’s Guide

The NVX 2002–2018 RAM Quad Cab and Crew Cab custom subwoofer platform is engineered specifically for 2002 to 2018 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 Quad Cab and Crew Cab pickup trucks.

Get deep, hard-hitting bass without sacrificing cargo space, legroom, or seat utility. This custom under-seat enclosure delivers maximum performance with zero compromises.

Available in single-driver and dual-driver configurations in both 10-inch and 12-inch sizes, you can select between unloaded enclosures (VE Series) and pre-loaded subwoofer boxes (LVE Series) tailored to your exact system goals.

Important Cab Fitment Note (Quad Cab & Crew Cab Only): All enclosures in this lineup are engineered strictly for 2002–2018 RAM 1500 / 2500 / 3500 Quad Cab and Crew Cab models. Single-driver models mount underneath the passenger-side rear seat storage recess, while dual-driver models span the entire under-seat floor area. They will NOT fit Regular Cab models (due to the lack of an under-seat floor pan) or Mega Cab models (which feature a different behind-seat rear cab wall geometry).

The Decision Guide: How to Pick Your Ideal Setup

Selecting the right SKU for your RAM Quad or Crew Cab comes down to three key choices: One or two drivers, 10” or 12” sizes, and empty or pre-loaded enclosures.

1. Single-Driver vs. Dual-Driver Enclosures

  • Single-Driver Enclosures (Passenger-Side Fit): Focused, clean, and smooth bass fill. Delivers balanced, accurate low-end that enhances your music without overwhelming the cabin. Installs beneath the passenger-side rear seat storage recess only, leaving the driver-side floor 100% open for gear, toolboxes, or factory under-seat trays.
  • Dual-Driver Enclosures (Full Under-Seat Width): Chest-pounding impact and massive cabin pressure. Doubling your cone area shifts twice as much air for high-volume authority and deep, hard-hitting sub-bass that spans the entire rear floor.

2. Driver Size: 10-Inch vs. 12-Inch

  • 10-Inch Drivers: Fast, articulate, and punchy. Lighter cone mass lets 10s react instantly to rapid kick drums and complex basslines, making them ideal for rock, country, pop, and metal where musical precision matters.
  • 12-Inch Drivers: Deep, booming, and physical. Larger cone surface area produces heavy, mirror-shaking sub-bass extension that excels on hip-hop, R&B, EDM, and low-frequency bass tracks.

3. Option Level: Empty Enclosure vs. Pre-Loaded Enclosure

  • Empty Enclosure (VE Series): Includes the custom 3/4" MDF sealed box, pre-wired terminal cups, and internal speaker leads. Ideal if you already own shallow-mount subwoofers.
  • Pre-Loaded Enclosure (LVE Series): Arrives factory pre-loaded with NVX S-Series shallow-mount subwoofers pre-wired internally to an optimal final mono load (2-ohm for single subs; 1-ohm for dual subs). Ready to drop into your RAM truck and connect to a monoblock amplifier.

Where Is the NVX Subwoofer Enclosure Installed in Your RAM Truck?

The NVX custom subwoofer enclosure installs directly underneath the rear passenger bench seat, sliding flat into the factory under-seat floor storage recess.

Its low-profile design fits beneath the 60/40 split-bench or full bench seat frame, allowing the rear seats to fold up or down without contacting the cabinet. The enclosure utilizes a down-firing sealed layout, directing the woofer cones straight down toward the carpeted metal floorboard.

This down-firing orientation provides two major operational advantages:

  1. Physical Protection: Facing the subwoofers downward shields the speaker cones and butyl rubber surrounds from boots, cargo, tools, or physical impact from heavy items placed on top of folded seats.
  2. Acoustic Boundary Loading: Sound pressure waves bounce directly off the metal floor pan before expanding upward into the cabin. This reflection acts as a natural acoustic horn, increasing overall bass output and low-end efficiency inside full-size RAM truck cabs.

Why Is This Custom Setup Better Than a Regular Powered Subwoofer?

A custom loaded or component subwoofer setup outperforms a regular powered subwoofer because it delivers up to eight times the continuous power handling, vastly greater cone displacement, and dense 3/4-inch wood cabinet acoustics.

Many truck owners consider compact all-in-one "powered subwoofers" (thin plastic boxes with tiny built-in amplifiers) because they look easy to throw under a seat. However, powered units typically max out at 100W to 150W RMS and rely on single small drivers inside lightweight plastic shells that flex and distort when turned up.

  • 350W to 800W RMS Continuous Output: While a plastic powered sub clips as soon as you turn up the volume, these NVX custom setups handle between 350W and 800W RMS (700W–1600W Peak), easily filling large RAM truck cabins with clean, distortion-free sub-bass.
  • Greater Cone Surface Area: Moving air produces deep bass. Single 12-inch or dual 10-inch/12-inch driver configurations move significantly more physical volume of air than a single small powered sub driver.
  • Rigid 3/4" MDF Wood vs. Thin Plastic Flex: Powered units utilize thin molded plastic shells that rattle under acoustic pressure. The NVX custom box uses heavy 3/4-inch medium-density fiberboard (MDF) to suppress cabinet vibration, yielding punchier, cleaner bass notes.
  • Modular Component Reliability: In an all-in-one powered sub, if the internal mini-amp burns out, the entire unit goes into the trash. With a dedicated loaded enclosure, you pair the box with a high-power external Class-D monoblock amplifier for superior heat management and simple future upgrades.

Why Is a Sealed Enclosure Design Ideal for RAM Cab Acoustics?

Pickup truck cabs are compact, highly reflective acoustic spaces surrounded by glass and metal. In this type of cabin environment, ported (vented) enclosures can frequently sound boomy or loose, causing acoustic overhang that masks mid-range vocals.

A sealed enclosure uses trapped air inside the cabinet as a pneumatic spring behind the woofer cones. As the voice coils travel, this internal air pressure keeps the moving assembly under strict mechanical control. This yields exceptional transient speed, fast cone recovery, and articulate kick-drum precision. You get tight, punchy bass that hits hard and stops on a dime without sounding muddy or bloated inside your RAM cab.

Recommended Amplification

To power your RAM truck under-seat enclosure cleanly, pair it with a high-efficiency Class-D monoblock amplifier mounted under the driver seat:

  • For Single-Sub Loaded Enclosures (350W-400W RMS @ 2 Ohms): Pair with the NVX VADM1 Micro Class-D Monoblock Amplifier. Delivering 350W to 400W RMS at 2 ohms, its ultra-compact micro chassis mounts out of sight under the front driver seat while supplying clean, efficient current.
  • For Dual-Sub Loaded Enclosures (700W-800W RMS @ 1 Ohm): Pair with the NVX VAD10001v2 Class-D Monoblock Amplifier. Delivering up to 1000W RMS at 1 ohm, this amplifier provides high power headroom in a compact footprint that easily fits under front seat frames sub.
