So far so good!

After getting the itch for better sound quality in my old beater accord, I dug my dual 12 inch 4 ohm 300w RMS sub box out of the garage. I got them plus as "600w" 2 ch amp for $100 like 15 years ago from some guy. I hooked them up in stereo, because I love a good panned double kick drum.... IYKYK.

I started setting the gain and noticed I started hearing distortion. I looked at the sub and it didn't look like it was close to maxing out. Did some digging and found out that POS amp put out 80W RMS x2 @4 ohm, 120W RMS x2 @2 ohm and 240W RMS x1 @4 ohm bridged. The "600W" number was a total fabrication, typical of cheap brands.

So I bought this amp because it says it will do 300w RMS x2 @4 ohms. I hooked it up and started setting my gain. I could immediately tell a dramatic difference. The subs can hit WAY harder now without hearing any distortion. After sitting in my running car in the AC for 30 minutes listening to music as loud as it was comfortable, while feeling bass thumping away I checked on the amp. Was hardly even body temperature.

At this price point it would have been nice to have a remote gain control. But since it doesn't, I made myself an RCA bass **** with 50k dual audio taper pot. Not perfect but works fairly well.

My biggest gripe would be the terminals... I honestly preferred the ones on my old amp with Phillips head screws over these... Tip, you have to unscrew these ones way further than you think you do just to get the wire in all the way. If you think your wire is locked down, give it a gentle tug to make sure. I'm glad I did....

This same amp with better terminals and a remote gain control would have definitely earned a 5/5. But I'm giving this one a solid 4/5.

Boat amp

Like it all except I wish that where all the wires hooked up was a diffrent style hook up. These feel weak and don’t seem to hold extremely well. But she will push the speakers.
